ArtVentures Policies and Procedures

Attendance
Your young artist will be exploring many wonderful ways of creating art. Some projects will take one session, some will continue for several sessions. Good attendance is important to their understanding and success in completing creative assignments. Please call ArtVentures if your child is going to miss a class. We will do our best to arrange a time for them to come in and make up the time missed.   Although it may not be in the same class, small class size allows us to be flexible in our instruction. There is no guarantee that the class can be made up and no refunds for a missed class. There is no make up class arranged without prior notification of an absence in most cases.

Class Cancellation
Parents whose children have registered for a class or program and need to cancel have the following options:
Full refund of deposit/fees if cancellation occurs at least 1 week prior to beginning of class.
50% refund of deposit/fees if cancellation occurs at less than 1 week prior to beginning of class
No refund of deposit/fees for cancellations after the class has begun.

All cancellations can receive credit of the amount paid that can be applied to any future ArtVentures Program or Party.

Students in the Elementary After School and Home School Programs have made a commitment from September 2010 through the end of May 2011. Students who withdrawal before completion, receive no refund or credit and are assessed a, $85 Withdrawal Fee.
It is rare that ArtVentures would cancel a class.   However, threatening weather or situations that necessitate a cancellation sometimes will occur, if a qualified substitute can not be found. All parents will be notified by phone and/or email of a cancellation/ reschedule, as soon as possible and a large sign will be placed on the classroom entrance door, indicating class will not be held at that time. Please update your contact information so that we may reach you in a timely manner.

Behavior
Students are expected to behave in an appropriate manner.   While freedom of expression is encouraged, all children must behave in a way that allows for instruction, learning and good, creative fun. Behavior expectations and consequences are discussed with students on the first day of class and reviewed when necessary.

Consequences for inappropriate behavior:

First time-Reminder and redirection
Second Time- Warning and Redirection
Third Time-Time Out

If a child is placed in Time Out, the parent will be notified so that we may work together in helping the student behave in a way that is beneficial to themselves and others.
Continued, disruptive behavior by a student will result in his/her removal from the ArtVentures Program. All class fees/deposits will be forfeited. Please discuss any behavioral or learning difficulties your child might have with Mrs. Currie, prior to the beginning of class, so that we may better understand and assist your child in having a positive and enjoyable experience.

Pick Up and Drop Off
Class begins and ends promptly. Do not drop your child off more than 10 m minutes early, unless you have made prior arrangements with he instructor. If you must pick your child up early, let the instructor know so we can start their clean up on time. If your child is not picked up within 15 minutes after the end of class, a $10 late pick up fee, will be assessed.

Drop Off
Pull in the driveway, all the way to the yellow line and drop your child off on the right side of your vehicle. They should walk along the yellow path back to the entrance ramp and into the classroom. Turn around in the parking lot and exit on the outgoing side of the drive.
Pick Up
Pull into the driveway, turn around in the parking lot and que up on the outgoing side of the driveway by the street. We will bring all students out and direct them to the cars in the order you are in line. It is not safe to park on 205/North Goliad. Instructors will not send children to the street to be picked up. If you must pick them up in that manner, you must come and escort them back to your car.

All parents must complete and sign a Permission and Release Form so that their child may be picked up safely. ArtVentures must be notified, in writing, of any changes in pick up for your child.

Parking Lot
Tiny little space, BIG SUV’s!
Please do not park in the parking lot. If you wish to come in and see what wonderful things your young artist has been creating, turn around in the parking lot and que up on the outgoing side.

Volunteer Opportunities
Some projects, such as paper mache sculpture and mosaics, require extra, one on one attention. If you would like to share in your child’s creative experience and assist for an hour during these projects, just let us know. You do not need to be an artist, just willing to jump in and get your hands messy.

Emergency Procedures
Evacuation/preparation plans are in place in unlikely event of an emergency.
In such an emergency, please do not contact ArtVentures by phone. We will telephone you immediately after all children are in a place of safety. Please confirm/update your contact information so that we may reach you in a timely manner.
Do not come to class if there is a Tornado or Severe Thunderstorm Warning.
